Game, Set, Sustainability: evian and Wimbledon introduce refillable on-court water system
Sustainability
evian, the official partner of Wimbledon, is taking a significant step towards sustainability at this year's tennis tournament. In collaboration with Wimbledon, evian has launched an innovative refill system to showcase its commitment to environmental responsibility.
In an exciting pilot initiative, players will have access to on-court refillable systems, providing them with reusable bottles to fill with refreshing evian water during matches and designated areas.
Courts 2 to 18 will be equipped with mineral water dispensers beneath the umpire's chair, while Centre Court and No 1 Court will offer pre-filled reusable bottles to supplement the players' supplies.
Not only players, but spectators will also be part of the sustainability drive. They will have the opportunity to enjoy evian's still mineral water in 100% recycled plastic bottles (750ml) and sparkling variants in recyclable aluminium cans (330ml).
With these eco-friendly measures, evian aims to make a positive impact at Wimbledon by promoting sustainable practices and offering a refreshing experience to players and spectators alike.
Sarah Dossett, vice president for marketing at evian's owner Danone UK and Ireland, said: Together through collaboration, we are excited to pilot this new system for 2023. The development of a refill solution to deliver our evian water to players demonstrates evian's continued commitment to innovate. Together with Wimbledon, we are continuing our journey towards our circularity ambitions.
Sally Bolton, chief executive at the All England Club, said: Wimbledon remains firmly committed to becoming Environment Positive by 2030. We continue to make improvements year-on-year to reach this ambition. Throughout, we have been working together with evian to evolve and move towards delivering evian water in the most sustainable way. We are excited about this next step in our journey together and look forward to seeing how the pilot goes and the impact it could have going forward.
