Customers in the US and Canada can now buy method's popular products in bottles made from 100% recycled coastal plastic.
method has always prioritised sustainability in its products, and now it’s taking a big step forward. The company is making all its clear plastic bottles from recycled coastal plastic, collected through a partnership between SC Johnson and Plastic Bank. This partnership has already recovered the equivalent of 3 billion bottles for recycling into consumer packaging, and method is proud to join these efforts.
In 2012, method introduced limited edition bottles made from recycled coastal plastic for its hand and dish soaps. Now, it’s expanding the use of this material across various products, including home cleaning supplies, hand soaps, and specialty cleaners.
Recycled coastal plastic is collected within 31 miles of the coast to prevent it from polluting oceans or landfills. Since 2018, SC Johnson and Plastic Bank have established over 550 collection locations in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Brazil, compensating collectors for their efforts.

Popular products in bottles made from 100% recycled coastal plastic include:
- Gel hand wash
- Foaming hand wash
- All-purpose cleaner
- Dish soap
- Foaming tub + tile cleaner
- Laundry detergent
method plans to expand its use of recycled coastal plastics further, with updated gel and foaming hand wash refill bottles launching later this year.
