Sustainable home care brand Clean Cult has launched a new range of packaging at Whole Foods Market stores across the United States, marking a significant shift towards plastic reduction in the cleaning product category.

As part of a wider push to bring low-waste solutions to everyday routines, Clean Cult has become one of the first brands to introduce aluminium bottles and paper-based refill cartons to the cleaning aisles at the natural grocery retailer. The rollout will initially take place in four Whole Foods Market regions: Northeast, Rocky Mountain, South Pacific, and Northern California.

The launch reinforces both companies’ commitment to advancing environmentally responsible packaging solutions. Whole Foods Market has a long-standing reputation for prioritising sustainability in its operations, having previously led initiatives such as banning plastic carrier bags in 2008 and removing plastic straws in 2019.

Clean Cult’s products, which include household cleaners packaged in refillable and recyclable formats, have been approved under Whole Foods Market’s rigorous ingredient and sustainability requirements. The brand has achieved Green Seal certification, verifying the biodegradability and performance of its formulations through independent testing.

By making refillable and plastic-free alternatives more accessible in mainstream retail settings, the move is seen as a significant step forward for plastic reduction in the home care sector. Clean Cult’s presence on Whole Foods Market shelves is expected to appeal to environmentally conscious consumers seeking effective, lower-impact cleaning products.

Ruby Rios, Senior Category Merchant at Whole Foods Market, said: Our customers care deeply about what's in their products and what's not. I'm especially excited to launch Clean Cult because it brings something new to the household essentials aisle—convenient, low-waste design paired with clean, effective formulas. It's the kind of packaging innovation and ingredient integrity we're proud to put on our shelves.

The company’s paper-based cartons and aluminium bottles are designed to reduce reliance on single-use plastic packaging and support a circular economy model. Clean Cult was the first to market with paper-based packaging in the cleaning category, and its latest expansion represents a growing appetite for more sustainable solutions in everyday household goods.
