Aptar Beauty has worked with Clarins to develop new reloadable packaging for the updated version of the brand’s Total Eye Lift cream, marking the first global launch to feature Aptar’s patented Gaïa airless system.

The packaging, designed to balance sustainability with performance and aesthetics, consists of a metal outer casing and plastic reload inserts that are recyclable within existing polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) waste streams. Each reload incorporates a bi-injected collar gasket, allowing it to connect securely to the casing while limiting air intake. The reloads are available for separate purchase and are designed for use exclusively with the corresponding case.

The Gaïa platform combines a standardised internal dispensing mechanism with customisable exterior components, such as the actuator and overshell, enabling brands to tailor the design to their product and identity. Clarins is the first company to commercialise the system, adapting it to meet its specific product requirements and user experience goals.

Florence Muh, Customer Support & Development Director, Aptar Beauty EMEA, said: We are proud to support Clarins with the first market launch with Gaïa. It is a true innovation designed for brand differentiation that puts the customer experience first.

According to Clarins, the new design reduces the overall environmental impact by 73% compared with the previous packaging format. A single recyclable reload is said to use 50% less metal, 33% less plastic and 29% less cardboard than the original Total Eye Lift container.
