ALDI Australia is making significant strides in its sustainability journey, as revealed in its "Making Sustainability Affordable" report.

The report highlights ALDI's commitment to sustainability, including a 12% reduction in plastic packaging since 2019, preventing 5,500 tonnes of plastic waste in 2022. ALDI has also diverted 82% of its waste from landfills. Moreover, the company is expanding its chiller door trial to Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia, following its success in New South Wales.

Throughout 2022, ALDI implemented several sustainability-focused innovations in its product packaging, aligning with its 2019 pledge to reduce plastic packaging by 25% by 2025. The supermarket chain has made substantial progress, achieving a 12.2% reduction in plastic packaging across its exclusive brands. This reduction translates to preventing an additional 5,500 tonnes of plastic from entering circulation last year.

ALDI's ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility is evident through initiatives like phasing out 15c reusable plastic bags and conducting chiller door trials in select stores in New South Wales. These efforts reflect ALDI's dedication to minimising its environmental impact.
