Paris Packaging Week unveils its first industry trend report Perspectives 2025
Events

Paris Packaging Week is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural trend report, Perspectives 2025: Expert Insights on Current and Future Packaging Trends. This cutting-edge report, developed by leaders for leaders, offers invaluable insights into the trends shaping the packaging industry today and those poised to define its future.

The power of industry expertise

Perspectives 2025 is a collaborative effort featuring thought leaders from some of the most influential companies across cosmetics, beverages, retail, and creative services. Contributors from Rémy Cointreau, Yves Rocher, Waitrose, Kingfisher, and others have drawn on their deep expertise to identify emerging themes and highlight the trends they believe will shape the packaging industry in the coming year.

Key topics and trends explored in the report

The report covers a range of critical and emerging topics set to reshape packaging in 2025 and beyond, including:

  • AI in packaging: How artificial intelligence is transforming the way packaging is conceptualized and produced.
  • Unweighting: The push for ultra-light, resource-efficient packaging that reduces environmental impact without compromising quality.
  • Monomaterials: Innovations in single-material packaging for improved recyclability and a circular economy.
  • Packaging as an experiential object: The rise of packaging that tells a story, engages consumers’ senses, and elevates the unboxing experience.
  • And more.

Sebastian Kraus, Associate Director of Packaging Development at Kao, explained his motivation for participating in the report: "I wanted to highlight the real challenges and needs the packaging industry is currently facing. The changes required to meet evolving responsibilities and stricter sustainability criteria are not easy to implement, but they are necessary. It’s crucial to recognize that new packaging requirements must be considered from the very start of the design process. Everyone in the project team needs to be ready to adapt and compromise in order to create truly sustainable packaging solutions”

A community initiative for the industry

Josh Brooks, Co-Director of Paris Packaging Week, shared the vision behind the report: "As the leading event for packaging innovation, we see ourselves as more than an event organizer—we’re a platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration. Perspectives 2025 is our way of creating content from the voices of our community, for our community. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the expertise and creativity that drive our industry forward and inspire meaningful innovation.”
