Lola Valentina adopts reusable packaging solution to support business growth

Lola Valentina, a Chicago-based design firm and linen rental company, has introduced a reusable packaging solution developed by FedEx in collaboration with reusable packaging specialist Returnity to support its expanding operations.

The company adopted the solution through a packaging leasing programme, enabling it to introduce reusable shipping containers without investing in its own packaging fleet. FedEx and Returnity also provided onboarding, training and ongoing support during implementation.

Established in 2019, Lola Valentina specialises in linen rental and event design services. The reusable packaging system enables the business to ship products through existing FedEx parcel networks using durable packaging designed for repeated use. The solution is intended for closed-loop shipping operations where products are regularly returned and redistributed.

According to the companies, demand for the programme increased soon after launch, with Lola Valentina requesting additional reusable boxes within six weeks to accommodate growing shipping volumes. The leasing model enabled the business to expand capacity without purchasing additional packaging outright.

Scaling a brand like Lola Valentina requires infrastructure that supports both creativity and consistency. As we grow in the event rental market, having a reusable box solution allows us to reduce waste and make the shipping and return process much easier for our clients.

Valentina Fonseca Krug, CEO of Lola Valentina.

FedEx and Returnity say the reusable packaging system has been designed to address common barriers to adoption, including upfront costs, operational complexity and compatibility with conventional parcel delivery networks. By integrating with existing FedEx logistics infrastructure, the solution is intended to help businesses transition from single-use corrugated packaging to reusable alternatives while maintaining established shipping processes.

As more businesses adopt reusable packaging, the focus shifts from concept to execution. Lola Valentina is a strong example of how companies with repeat shipping patterns can implement a system like this and quickly scale it within their existing operations.

Mike Newman, CEO of Returnity.

The companies added that the approach reflects growing interest among B2B organisations in reusable packaging systems that support operational efficiency and longer-term sustainability objectives, particularly where products move through predictable, repeat-use supply chains.
