National Wash Network strengthens Canada's reusable food packaging drive
Sustainability
The National Wash Network has unveiled an initiative aimed at creating an infrastructure that fosters reusable food packaging programmes throughout Canada.
This innovative network comprises commercial wash facilities and logistics providers strategically positioned in major metropolitan areas across the country. This strategic deployment empowers local and national food service brands to make the shift from disposable packaging to embracing reusable alternatives. By establishing decentralised collection and warewashing processes through local partnerships, the National Wash Network is leading the way toward a circular economy.
In a bid to expedite the adoption of reusable packaging programs, the National Wash Network offers tailored solutions designed for seamless implementation within the operational realities of food service businesses across major metropolitan hubs nationwide. Collaborating with industry leaders such as ShareWares, Earthware Reusables, Muuse, and Bopaq, the National Wash Network spans from the West to the East, reflecting a united commitment to sustainable practices.
Pete Fry, Vancouver City Councillor, said: As we collectively work toward reducing our environmental footprint by encouraging reduction and reuse, what we've seen emerge is a need to untangle the patchwork of approaches and by-laws and do this work in a way that's scalable and makes good business sense. The nascent National Wash Network is a great example of how we can get there by harnessing some of the drive and passion in the private sector to drive innovation and collaboration.
