Strategic approach

Syntegon’s sustainability strategy rests on three pillars: environmental stewardship, social empowerment, and responsible governance. Across all business areas, the company strives to reduce its environmental footprint, cultivate a safe and inclusive workplace, and uphold the highest ethical standards. By embedding sustainable practices into both its own operations and customer solutions, Syntegon creates a positive impact not only on its customers’ businesses but also on people and the planet.

Sustainable solutions

As a strategic partner, Syntegon stands alongside its customers to help them master tomorrow’s challenges, supporting their sustainability goals, minimizing safety risks, safeguarding product integrity and delivering added value throughout every stage of a system’s lifecycle. Through innovative technologies and futureproof solutions, the company helps reduce emissions, waste and resource consumption while boosting operational efficiency.

Torsten Türling, Chief Executive Officer of Syntegon, said: As we continue to grow, our responsibility to society and the environment grows with us. Sustainability is the foundation of our value creation, and our mission to make medicine more accessible and food safer will always go hand in hand with a more sustainable world.

Strong 2024 operational achievements in sustainability

In 2024, Syntegon embedded sustainability factors into strategic and operational decisions, enhanced board-level oversight, and increased transparency ahead of upcoming regulatory requirements such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The company formed a dedicated sustainability team, driving the implementation of its sustainability roadmap and preparing for the CSRD.

One of the most important milestones was the validation of the company’s climate targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This endorsement confirms Syntegon’s commitment to reduce emissions aligned with the 1.5 C goal of the Paris Agreement. The sustainability report demonstrates tangible progress, with the company achieving a 36% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to 2019 and a 7% decrease in energy consumption year-on-year.

Employee development was also a priority, with more than 9,400 digital training courses. Initiatives in workplace safety, well-being, and diversity contributed to a more resilient and inclusive organizational culture.

Petros Kapelles, Chief Operations Officer of Syntegon, said: Our approach is clear: We embed sustainability directly into our operational processes, where it creates the most lasting impact. From emissions to education, every step matters. EcoVadis Platinum reflects our strong sustainability commitment.

Syntegon placed among the top 1% of companies by EcoVadis

In April 2025, Syntegon was awarded the Platinum rating by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 1% of more than 150,000 companies evaluated worldwide for sustainability performance. The rating acknowledges excellence in environmental impact, labor practices, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Yvonne Gillet, Vice President Sustainability at Syntegon, said: We are proud to be recognized with EcoVadis' highest distinction. It reflects the dedication of our teams and reinforces our commitment to integrating sustainability into everything we do.

Looking ahead: a clear path to net-zero

Syntegon is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2040. This long-term goal reflects Syntegon’s deep responsibility to future generations, ensuring that growth remains within planetary boundaries.
