Frog Tape shifts painters tape range to paperboard packaging
Sustainability

FrogTape® has announced that its Multi-Surface and Delicate Surface painter’s tapes will transition from plastic canisters to recyclable paperboard packaging later this year.

The new cartons, made with curbside recyclable and FSC® certified paperboard (FSC-C154304), are designed to retain the brand’s distinctive visual identity while providing improved storage and sustainability benefits. According to the company, the move will eliminate around one million pounds of plastic annually.

FrogTape’s plastic containers have historically been used to protect tape edges and provide a strong shelf presence. The updated design aims to maintain those functions while reducing environmental impact.

The cartons will also carry the brand’s Signature Series badge, used across its premium tape range — including Multi-Surface, Delicate Surface and the recently introduced Advanced Painter’s Tapes — to help consumers identify its higher-performing products.

Patti LaPorte, Director of Product Marketing at Shurtape Technologies, said: From the paper and adhesive we use to the packaging that brings our products to market, we’re taking small steps that add up to a big environmental impact. And with this packaging update, consumers can trust that the new paperboard package provides the same protection to the trusted tape edges treated with PaintBlock® Technology, without sacrificing precision, offering a smarter, more sustainable way to paint.

The updated packaging will begin appearing on shelves from September 2025, with a full rollout planned by the end of the year.
