Chicago Bears launch reusable cup programme at Soldier Field

Sustainability

The Chicago Bears have introduced a reusable cup pilot programme for fans attending games in the United Club at Soldier Field.

Launched in partnership with Dr Pepper, ASM Global, Levy, and Bold Reuse, the initiative aims to reduce single-use waste and promote environmental responsibility among fans.

The programme debuted during the Bears' home game against the Patriots on November 10 and will continue for the remainder of the season. Over 8,000 fans in the United Club will have access to reusable cups at each game. These cups, available in various sizes from 9 oz. wine cups to 20 oz. draft beer cups, are provided at no additional cost. Fans are encouraged to return used cups to designated collection bins within the stadium.

After the game, Bold Reuse, a global leader in reusable packaging systems, manages the cleaning, sanitising, and return process.

This initiative builds on the Bears’ ongoing sustainability efforts, which include oil recycling, water usage reduction, and material recycling.

Senior vice president of operations & sustainability, Paul Neurauter, said: We are thrilled to partner with Keurig Dr Pepper and Bold Reuse in supporting a gameday reuse program in the NFL. As we broaden our sustainability efforts, identifying solutions that foster a more sustainable approach to our Gameday operations is a priority for the Chicago Bears. Through this partnership, we are excited about the impact this program will have on reducing single-use plastic waste that is generated on gamedays.

By implementing reusable cups, the team aims to further reduce the environmental impact of gameday operations while fostering eco-conscious habits among fans.
