Beetles Gel Polish launches nail bottle recycling programme with TerraCycle

Beetles Gel Polish has partnered with TerraCycle to introduce a recycling programme for empty nail polish and gel polish packaging across the United States.

The initiative, known as the Beetles Loves Earth Free Recycling Program, accepts dry, empty glass gel polish and nail polish bottles from any brand, along with their associated plastic caps. The programme is designed to provide an alternative disposal route for packaging that is often excluded from conventional kerbside recycling systems.

According to the companies, nail polish and gel polish containers can present challenges for municipal recycling programmes due to residual product, cleaning requirements and the economics of material recovery. As a result, many empty bottles are typically discarded rather than recycled.

Through the programme, collected materials will be processed and converted into secondary raw materials for use in new products. The glass component will be recycled into materials used in construction applications, including concrete, cement and bricks.

Consumers and nail industry professionals can participate by reviewing the programme's recycling guidelines and delivering eligible items to designated collection points. The scheme is open to empty glass nail polish and gel polish bottles from all brands, provided they meet the programme's acceptance criteria.

Beetles Gel Polish said participants will be eligible for a range of rewards based on the volume of packaging returned. Incentives include discount vouchers, products and limited-edition gift packs. The company also plans to introduce a mail-in recycling option in the future to expand access for consumers in remote locations.

The programme is currently available through a network of drop-off locations across the US, with further expansion planned into additional states and cities.

By accepting packaging from multiple brands, the initiative is intended to engage a broad range of stakeholders, including consumers, salons, nail technicians, retailers and community organisations interested in improving recycling rates for beauty and personal care packaging.
