The Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) serves as the primary trade association representing the UK's Paper-based Industries, encompassing paper and board manufacturers and converters, corrugated packaging producers, soft tissue paper manufacturers, and paper recyclers.
CPI unites the UK's paper-based Industries to promote the inherent value of paper as a renewable and recyclable resource. CPI's objective is to enhance the industry's competitiveness by advocating for appropriate legislative and regulatory frameworks at the UK, EU, and global levels and by sharing best practices among its membership.
The organisation represents 79 Member companies, with a combined annual turnover of £11.5 billion, 56,000 direct employees, and supporting an additional 93,000 jobs in the wider economy. Its membership includes large multi-national organisations with multiple sites in the UK, as well as single-site SMEs.
The CPI is working to promote:
CPI is guided by four core values: Optimism, Visibility, Community, and Sustainability. CPI maintains a positive outlook towards the future of the Paper-based Industries in the UK, recognising the industry's achievements, such as cutting carbon emissions by 63% relative to 1990 levels, innovating new packaging, and leading in recovery and recycling.
CPI strives to increase its visibility and engagement with Westminster, Whitehall, and Brussels to influence UK Industrial Strategy and secure opportunities arising from Brexit. Additionally, it aims to help its Members establish roots in their local communities and maintain positive relationships with the wider community.
Finally, CPI emphasises the importance of sustainability and recognises paper's unique renewable and recyclable properties, making it the sustainable choice for a broad range of applications both today and in the future.
