Tom Parker Creamery implements reusable glass bottle programme
Sustainability
Again has recently launched live operations with Tom Parker Creamery, a British dairy producer, to facilitate the reuse of their used glass bottles.
Thanks to their partnership with Milk & More, Tom Parker Creamery's empty bottles are collected from customers' doorsteps and sent to Again's CleanCell. Here, the bottles are sorted, delabelled, cleaned, dried, visually inspected, palletised, and then shipped back to Tom Parker Creamery for refilling.
By switching to reuse, Tom Parker Creamery can cut down on glass packaging procurement costs and significantly decrease its CO₂ and water footprint. To help track the performance of the reuse system, each bottle will have a unique identification code. This will provide valuable insights into the number of times the bottle has been reused, reasons for failure and rejection, live inventory visibility, return rate performance of retail partners, and the amount of CO₂ and water saved compared to single-use.
Furthermore, all bottles will be assessed by Again's automated vision inspection system, which uses computer vision algorithms to determine if the packaging is clean and free of damage.
Brands or retailers interested in transitioning to reusable packaging with Again's reuse supply chain solution are encouraged to contact them.
