Papa Johns has partnered with packaging manufacturer Smurfit Westrock to launch a new multi-compartment pizza box that also doubles as an interactive game.

The “Tremendous Triple Box” is designed to hold two pizzas and four side dishes in a single container. Once opened, the packaging can be transformed into either a football or basketball game, offering an added entertainment element alongside the food.

The packaging was developed by Smurfit Westrock’s Spanish division and marks the latest step in a collaboration between the two companies that began in 2016, when Papa Johns opened its first restaurant in Madrid.

According to the companies, the box demonstrates how packaging can go beyond its traditional role of protecting products to become part of the customer experience and a tool for brand engagement.

The design also allows for flexibility in branding, with options for digital or offset printing to support promotional campaigns and create distinctive visual finishes.

Teo Pastor, Sales & Marketing Director, Smurfit Westrock Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, said: At Smurfit Westrock, we believe packaging has the power to transform the relationship between brands and their consumers. Beyond protecting a product, it can create value, differentiation and a real emotional connection. With an approach that combines innovation, sustainability and design, we help our clients turn every solution into a memorable experience. The collaboration with Papa Johns is a clear example of how well-designed packaging can enhance the value of a promotion and surprise the consumer at every touchpoint.

The triple-compartment box is being introduced as part of Papa Johns’ efforts to combine convenience with a more engaging consumer experience.
