L’Oréal Groupe has joined Canopy’s Pack4Good initiative, a programme that encourages companies to strengthen the sustainability of paper packaging supply chains and reduce the risk of deforestation and forest degradation.

Pack4Good brings together brands that have committed to improving sourcing practices for paper packaging, with a focus on avoiding fibre linked to Ancient and Endangered Forests. The initiative aims to increase transparency across supply chains while supporting forest conservation.

According to Canopy, L’Oréal Groupe’s participation reflects the growing involvement of the beauty sector in efforts to improve due diligence and responsible sourcing of forest-based materials used in packaging.

The move is also aligned with the company’s wider sustainability objectives covering areas including climate, water, biodiversity and resource use. L’Oréal Groupe has also published a Responsible and Sustainable Sourcing Policy outlining its approach to responsible procurement.

At L’Oréal Groupe, our transformation is grounded in purpose and action at every stage of our value chain. In line with our L’Oréal for the Future commitments, joining Pack4Good is a natural step in our sustainability journey. As a global leader, we believe in the importance of protecting the planet’s beauty through more circular and sustainable innovations, including the materials we use to package our products.

Céline Bomo-Leducq, Global Sustainable Sourcing Director at L’Oréal Groupe.

Companies participating in Pack4Good work towards a number of objectives, including increasing supply chain transparency, preventing the use of materials sourced from Ancient and Endangered Forests, maximising recycled fibre content, supporting the development of next-generation packaging materials such as agricultural residues and alternative fibres, and promoting forest conservation alongside respect for Indigenous Peoples and local community rights.

Canopy says the Pack4Good initiative now includes 566 participating brands representing more than US$448 billion in combined annual revenue, reflecting growing cross-industry interest in responsible fibre sourcing and lower-impact packaging solutions. The organisation says it hopes continued participation will help reduce pressure on forests while supporting the development of more circular packaging systems.
