Aldi switches to paper packaging for porridge oats

Sustainability

Aldi has transitioned to paper packaging for its Everyday Essentials Porridge Oats across all UK stores.

This change ensures that all Aldi porridge oat products, including Everyday Essentials, Organic, and Scottish Porridge Oats, are now free from plastic packaging.

This initiative is anticipated to save approximately 57 tonnes of plastic annually.

It aligns with Aldi's broader goal of reducing plastic packaging by 50% by 2025.

Luke Emery, Plastics and Packaging Director at Aldi UK, said: At Aldi, we are committed to reducing the use of plastic across our products and this latest change is another example of our ongoing progress. We know our customers want to make sustainable choices when they shop with us, which is why small steps like this can make a big difference.

Last month, Aldi launched a trial to remove plastic packaging from bananas in select stores across the North East, Yorkshire, the South West, the South East, and the Midlands.
