Spectra achieve Gold Eco Vadis rating
Supplier News

We are proud to announce we have been awarded a Gold Medal from EcoVadis, placing us among the top 5% of companies globally for sustainability performance.

This independent assessment recognises our firm commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. It reflects the tireless efforts of our teams to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our business.

EcoVadis evaluates organisations across four critical areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Our Gold rating confirms that Spectra not only meets but exceeds industry best practices in each of these categories. It is a significant milestone that highlights our position as a responsible manufacturer and an ESG leader within the packaging industry.

Central to this achievement is our rigorous approach to measuring and reducing our carbon footprint. As of our latest assessment for 2024, Spectra reported:

  • Scope 1 (direct emissions): 23 tonnes CO₂e
  • Scope 2 (indirect energy-related emissions): 1,103 tonnes CO₂e (location-based), 0 tonnes CO₂e (market-based)
  • Scope 3 (supply chain emissions): 6,046 tonnes CO₂e, including both upstream and downstream impacts

We have made substantial investments in low-energy machinery, solar energy generation (using 82% of power harvested onsite), and responsibly sourced materials such as Prevented Ocean Plastic and Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) content. These actions support our ambitious goal of reaching net-zero operational emissions by 2035 and supply chain emissions by 2050, with less than 1.5% reliance on carbon offsetting.

Our EcoVadis Gold status is a direct result of the dedication of our employees and the strategic vision of our ESG Committee. It reaffirms our commitment to transparency, innovation, and climate accountability and strengthens our promise to deliver sustainable, high-quality packaging solutions for our customers and communities.
