Do you ever think about the different layers of packaging that makes up the journey from fulfilment centre to the customer?

Primary Packaging

This is the packaging that provides the first layer of protection to your products. It directly contains and preserves. Primary packaging is an essential element, safeguarding from damage, contamination, and environmental hazards. Primary packaging also enhances the presentation of products and communicates crucial details or information to the customer. Primary packaging includes, boxes bags and envelopes.

Secondary Packaging

This layer of packaging groups together multiple primary packages. It protectively bundles primary packages. Secondary packaging is often unseen by the customer, consolidating individual units for efficient handling, storage and transportation. Secondary packaging includes packaging such as; shrink wrap, stretch wrap, corrugated cases.

Tertiary Packaging

This is the outermost layer ensuring safe transportation and secure handling throughout the supply chain. It’s robust packaging and includes pallets and crates that goods travel on. Securing and stabilising grouped products within their secondary packaging. Tertiary packaging is able to withstand the challenges and potential damage during shipping, warehousing, loading, and unloading.

The process of transporting from fulfilment to customer is an intricate set of stages when it comes to packaging, Each layer of packaging plays a vital role in protecting the goods during transit and ensuring they are safe throughout the supply chain.
