Berry Global introduces the Berry Digi-Cap™ - an innovative child-resistant closure that incorporates digital technology to promote medication adherence.

This smart closure is suitable for clinical trials, drug development, research, and academic studies.

It features a microprocessor that records patient openings and usage history, while also monitoring temperature storage levels for valuable research data. The recorded information can be easily transferred to external devices for analysis, and uploaded to a patient-facing app or web portals for healthcare professionals to utilise.

The closure not only enhances patient adherence, but also assists pharmaceutical manufacturers and healthcare providers in optimising trial efficiency and increasing medication effectiveness.

The patent-pending 38mm closure is compatible with standard pharma packaging bottles and can withstand the sealing process.

"This is a very advanced closure that provides extra benefits from the data it can amass, but it was important that it looked and felt the same for the patient so as not affect or influence their usage in any way," said Berry Healthcare Business Development Director Chad Rice. "That is what makes our Digi-Cap™ so unique in that it matches our standard 38mm child resistant closures while incorporating this innovative technology."

Digi-Cap™ is a trademark owned by Berry Global, Inc. or one of its affiliates.
