Nestlé Poland faces greenwashing lawsuit over packaging claims

Business
Environmental law charity ClientEarth has launched legal action against Nestlé Poland, challenging the marketing claims on its Nałęczowianka bottled water brand.
The case, filed with the Regional Court in Warsaw on 17 September 2025, centres on slogans printed on bottles and multipacks, including: “I am 100% made of recycled PET plastic (excluding cap and label),” “I am made from another bottle,” and “I am recyclable.”

ClientEarth argues that these statements mislead consumers by suggesting single-use plastic packaging has no environmental impact. The organisation is seeking a court order to prevent Nestlé Poland from continuing to use the claims, which it believes contravene consumer protection laws.
Prior to the lawsuit, both parties entered discussions but were unable to reach agreement.
