Mondi considers merger with DS Smith for sustainable packaging growth

Mondi, a leading player in sustainable packaging sectors, has announced its early-stage consideration of a potential all-share combination with DS Smith.

The proposed collaboration aims to create a European industry leader in sustainable packaging solutions. It is envisioned to capitalise on growing trends in sustainable packaging, offering enhanced vertical integration and synergies.

Benefits include improved earnings resilience, enhanced security of paper supply, and significant operational efficiencies across the supply chain.

Mondi's strategy focuses on value accretive growth, guided by a disciplined approach to acquisitions and investments.

While no certainty exists regarding a formal offer, Mondi remains committed to maintaining financial stability and a shareholder-friendly dividend policy.

In accordance with regulatory requirements, Mondi has until March 7, 2024, to announce a firm intention to make an offer for DS Smith or declare otherwise.
