Sustainable plastic cups and tubs

Cups and tubs can certainly be described as 'the classics' of food packaging. Besides protecting the product itself, they are easily stackable and offer a wide range of decoration possibilities.

Tubs offer optimal protection for food and non-food products. By reducing the use of materials and using alternative materials, we pursue several approaches to make our tubs sustainable.

Plastic packaging trays / r-PET trays

Trays are available in a wide variety of shapes and colours. Whether as secondary or meat packaging. As the demand for sustainable packaging grows, we see the greatest potential in r-PET trays.

Plastic containers for chemical packaging

Containers can be found particularly in the chemical industry. Issues such as complete emptying and weight reduction play an important role in the design and can also lead to a positive CO₂ balance.

Plastic buckets

Plastic buckets are available in many industries. By reducing weight and using recycled materials, a contribution can be made to sustainability.

Sustainable coffee capsules

Everyone knows them – the popular coffee capsules that sweeten our mornings. But there is more behind the small packaging than meets the eye. In addition to the base material, a separate barrier layer protects the aroma.

Plastic cans

Cans are not only made of aluminium, but also of plastic. They play an important role in both the food and non-food sectors.

r-PET bottles

The extensive packaging portfolio at Greiner Packaging also includes bottles in a wide range of shapes and sizes. We already offer the option of using up to 100 percent r-PET in this area if desired. r-PET, which is recovered from PET bottles, is currently also the only material that is approved for the food sector.

Plastic lids and closures

The details are often what determines whether a packaging solution is practical or not – and lids can make a key difference in this. They come in a wide range of variants – such as slip lids, snap-on lids, or sealing lids – and they also ensure that a product can be resealed or, as in the case of the sealing lid, are even tamper-evident.

Like lids, closures protect the filled contents from external influences, allow the packaging to be resealed, and – depending on the cap – are tamper-evident. Closures are also a packaging component that ensures optimal dispensing, for example with sprinkle holes for herbs and spices or dispenser systems for liquid soaps. But no matter the type of cap, Greiner Packaging stands for the development and production of precise solutions.

Packaging barrier solutions

Innovative barrier solutions significantly boost the value of a packaging solution. Food packaging isn't just an attractive way of wrapping a product – it's the key factor for getting the filled contents from the filling plant to the consumer in the highest quality. Barrier solutions are highly advantageous for contents that require an especially high level of protection against external influences.

Barrier options include:

• Barriers against oxygen migration or mutual migration (from inside and outside): Oxygen damage to the product does not just come from outside. Even the oxygen trapped during packaging can greatly affect the product. Products are often packaged under a nitrogen atmosphere to prevent this effect.
• Barriers against loss of aroma
• Barriers against light: Dark materials are injected in the form of layers, such as for butter tubs (butter is broken down by UV rays, so a normal "light-coloured" tub does not offer enough protection).
