UK town council introduces blister pack recycling initiative
Sustainability
Residents in Nailsea now have access to a new recycling option for empty medicine blister packs, thanks to an initiative launched by the town council.
A dedicated drop-off point has been set up at 65 High Street, allowing households to dispose of used blister packs that cannot be recycled through standard kerbside collections due to their combination of plastic and foil materials.

The collected items will be processed by TerraCycle, a specialist recycling company that transforms hard-to-recycle waste into raw materials for reuse.
Households are encouraged to gather their used blister packs and bring them to the collection point at their convenience. The scheme is limited to domestic waste only, with a maximum of one carrier bag per household. Commercial waste is not accepted.
The council described the initiative as a practical measure to support more sustainable waste management and reduce environmental impact at the local level.
