Saga Nutrition unveils recyclable mono material pack for pet food
Sustainability

Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging, has partnered with Saga Nutrition, a French pet food manufacturer, to create recyclable packaging for Saga’s dry pet food range. This innovative design replaces non-recyclable multi-material plastic with mono-material — ensuring pet food freshness while supporting a circular economy.

The collaboration highlights Mondi and Saga Nutrition’s shared commitment to sustainability and the transition to a circular economy. The new packaging has been launched in October 2024. As part of Mondi`s re/cycle portfolio, re/cycle FlexiBag is designed to meet the companies’ internal Path to Circularity Scorecard criteria as well as CEFLEX recycling guidelines. It offers high-barrier properties, protecting products from moisture, fat and odour in sizes from 3 kg and up. Saga Nutrition’s adoption of mono-material packaging also showcases its dedication to minimising waste and enhancing visual appeal.

The packaging also features secure sealing for easy storage and handling, ensuring convenience for pet owners. Its durability also provides reliable protection during shipping and handling, making it practical and long-lasting.

Olivier Werbrouck, Regional Sales Consumer Flexibles France, Mondi, said: As consumer demand for sustainable solutions grows, we are excited to work with Saga Nutrition to deliver packaging that truly supports a circular economy when it comes to pet food.
Jérôme de Solliers, CEO at Saga Nutrition, said: This collaboration with Mondi is a key milestone in our sustainability journey. By transitioning to recyclable mono-material packaging, we’re contributing to a circular economy while maintaining the high quality our customers trust.
