New plastic film recycling directory launched in the United States
Sustainability
The Flexible Film Recycling Alliance (FFRA) has introduced a Plastic Film Recycling Directory, designed to boost plastic film recycling rates across the United States. This initiative aims to improve consumer access to recycling collection points while providing clear educational resources to promote responsible recycling practices.
The directory reflects FFRA’s broader commitment to enhancing transparency, collaboration, and progress in plastic film recycling. As part of its efforts, FFRA is developing a verification programme in partnership with third parties to ensure integrity in recycling initiatives. The alliance will also engage with stakeholders, addressing inquiries and sharing responses publicly to encourage broader participation and evaluation of its impact. Within two years of the directory's launch, FFRA has pledged to release verified data detailing its progress and the impact of its efforts on recycling rates.
FFRA is inviting retailers and recycling depots that collect plastic film to join the directory.
As an initiative of PLASTICS, the Flexible Film Recycling Alliance is focused on advancing flexible film recycling through improved access, education, and nationwide recycling rates. Its mission supports the development of a circular economy for plastic film products.
Patrick Krieger, PLASTICS Vice President of Sustainability, said: We are excited to launch the Flexible Film Recycling Alliance’s Plastic Film Recycling Directory. FFRA’s priorities include ensuring consumers know where to recycle plastic film and feel confident that their materials are being properly recycled. We believe this directory will play a critical role in increasing plastic film recycling rates across America.
Further details about the directory are available on its website.
