Hormel introduces portioned bacon packaging to reduce food waste
Sustainability
Hormel has introduced a new packaging format for its BLACK LABEL Original Bacon range, designed to allow consumers to separate and prepare smaller quantities while keeping the remaining product unopened.
The new HORMEL BLACK LABEL Portion Pack Bacon features three individually perforated sections, each containing four slices of bacon. The packaging allows consumers to separate the sections before opening, selecting the quantity required without opening the remaining portions.

The format is intended to provide greater flexibility for consumers preparing different quantities of bacon, whether for individual meals or larger occasions. By allowing unused portions to remain sealed until needed, the design also aims to help reduce food waste.
The product contains the same BLACK LABEL Original Bacon as the brand's existing range, with the main change being the introduction of individually separable packaging sections.
With HORMEL® BLACK LABEL® Portion Pack Bacon, people can enjoy the bacon they love in a way that fits their lives. This innovative package makes it easier to enjoy bacon on their terms, whether it's a quick breakfast, a meal for one, a weekend brunch or simply a moment worth savoring.
Aly Sill, senior brand manager for the HORMEL® BLACK LABEL® Bacon brand.
HORMEL BLACK LABEL Portion Pack Bacon is available in 12 oz (approximately 340 g) packs at selected Walmart, Meijer and Albertsons stores in the United States.
