Award-winning UK ice-cream manufacturer Tubzee found the service from packaging experts Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS) anything but frosty – so much so that they’ve now purchased a second shrink wrapping line from the suppliers.

Prior to working with YPS, their original aging wrapping equipment needed replacement, so Tubzee sought a supplier who would not only provide the kit, but also deliver excellent backup and support. YPS fitted the bill, as a service contract is included with every packaging line they supply, supported by their own in-house engineering team.

“YPS were our ideal partner for shrink wrapping equipment as they offered exactly the kind of support we wanted, and with it total peace of mind that our operation would be kept running at its best,” explained Asif Hussain, Operations Director of Tubzee.

“In fact, YPS’ experience and expertise helped from the start, understanding our precise requirements and proposing the ideal specification for the new shrink wrapper, enabling us to work faster and safer,” he added.

YPS supplied a full dairy specification, semi-automatic shrink-wrapping line. Dairy specification models are designed for wet environments, with full stainless-steel bodies and low-voltage, waterproof electrics, suitable for washdowns.

YPS has now supplied two dairy specification shrink wrapping lines to Tubzee’s production facility.

The semi-automatic system is better suited to Tubzee’s operation as it offers greater flexibility for different pack types and assists in handling some of the taller, less stable pack collations.

Light curtain guarding was added to Tubzee’s lines for improved production speed and safety. This addition allows the sealing jaw to activate while the operator is freed up to collate the next products, decreasing the time between wrapping of each pack.

Tubzee’s ice cream is available in lots of different formats, so they require real flexibility from their packaging lines.

YPS MD Glyn Johnson commented, “Tubzee knew exactly what they wanted to gain from their new shrink wrapping line. It’s satisfying to see that we could bring our experience to bear to help them achieve it.”
