YPS Pack consistency improved whilst increasing production speed for pharmaceutical manufacturer
Supplier News

A leading producer in the pharmaceutical industry has recently upgraded its packaging lines with new equipment from Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS). The company's goal was to increase production speed, but they've also gained additional benefits in improved consistency at the same time.

The company produces a vast range of medicines, vitamins, minerals and health supplements in tablet, gel and powder form. With such important products to supply, the packaging has to be both reliable, to ensure product protection, and visually excellent, to look appealing in retail environments.

The recent upgrade in their packaging lines has seen them purchase three Pratika fully automatic l-sealers, plus compatible double chamber heat shrink tunnels. The company had operated its previous lines over many years, and they were becoming old and outdated. Their previous l-sealer was manually loaded, limiting the speed at which products could be packed.

The new Automatic l-sealers can each process up to 40 packs per minute, representing a significant jump in capacity for the pharmaceutical producer. This increased capacity will help the company to comfortably keep pace at peak production times and future proofs their production facility for further expected growth.

In addition, the automatic l-sealers boast features that help the producer to ensure consistent pack finishing, even though the machines are set up by a variety of employees, including short-term agency workers. The packaging systems include a pre-programme feature which includes product images, ensuring that the correct settings are picked up and activated at the start of a production run, delivering the correct adjustments for the product in question.

YPS MD Glyn Johnson, said: We found that the customer was excited about the advanced features that the new automatic l-sealers could deliver and could see how these would elevate the packaging element of their production. Matching the best packaging system to a customer's application is one of the strengths of the YPS Team and it's always great to see our customers reaping benefits.
