Viscose launches new tethered plastic screwcaps
Supplier News

We are excited to announce the expansion of our product portfolio with the launch of our new tethered plastic screwcaps, available in the 1810 and 1881 sizes. This addition marks a significant step forward in the evolution of our product range and reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation in plastic closure solutions.

Building on our strong track record in plastic closures, we have successfully guided our customers through the transition from untethered to tethered caps. Our approach has ensured that the changeover has been both seamless and minimally disruptive, enabling our clients to upgrade their packaging solutions with confidence and ease.

Why tethered caps?

Designed with both sustainability and regulatory compliance in mind, these tethered caps remain attached to the bottle after opening ensuring that both the cap and bottle are disposed of together. This innovative feature reduces litter, facilitates recycling, and aligns with the growing demand for environmentally responsible packaging solutions.

From July 2024, the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) requires that all beverage bottles up to 3 litres are fitted with tethered caps. As these closures stay attached to the bottle after opening, it is easier to recycle the bottle and cap together, so reducing plastic litter. Although the UK has not (yet) directly adopted this legislation, many producers are aligning with the EU requirements to ensure consistency across markets and to future-proof their packaging.

Key benefits of 1881 & 1810 tethered caps:

  • Compliant with EU SUPD legislation
  • Caps and bottles recycled together = higher recycling rates
  • Reduced risk of litter in the environment
  • Demonstrates commitment to sustainability and circular economy goals

Ideal for:

  • Water
  • Soft Drinks
  • Mixers
  • Sauces

Our new closures are available in a variety of colours and finishes and they offer more than just environmental benefits. They deliver enhanced functionality, convenient consumer use, and maintain the tamper-evident properties our customers rely on. Whether for beverage, food, or other liquid products, these caps represent the next step in practical, responsible packaging design.

By integrating these tethered screwcaps into your packaging, you not only meet evolving industry standards but also strengthen your brand’s commitment to sustainability and consumer safety. Our new tethered closures demonstrate that environmental responsibility and user convenience can go hand in hand—without compromising quality or performance.
