New slitter-rewinder boosts quality, efficiency, and flexibility

PEKU Folien is investing in a new slitter-rewinder from the Spanish machinery manufacturer Comexi, further expanding its expertise in processing high-quality printed packaging films. The system enhances precision, efficiency, and flexibility, improves roll winding quality, and enables the company to handle the entire finishing process at its Neumarkt site in the future.

The slitter-rewinder, featuring a dual-winder configuration, ensures superior slitting precision, short setup times, and efficient processing of a wide variety of film types.

Investment creates added value for customers and employees

The deployment of the new slitter-rewinder elevates packaging film production to a new level.

Customers in the food, pet food, hygiene, industrial, and consumer goods sectors stand to benefit in particular.

"Our customers expect top quality, short delivery times, and maximum flexibility. With this new system, we are making a targeted investment to meet these demands. At the same time, we are strengthening the Neumarkt site, as we can now offer the complete finishing process locally," says Michael Pirner, Sales Director at PEKU Folien.

In addition to high slitting precision, the new machine impresses with its energy-efficient drive technology, modern automation systems, and ergonomic workstation design, which significantly reduces physical strain on employees.

Sustainability through efficient processes

"Laser-assisted knife positioning ensures precise roll geometry and consistently high processing quality. Meanwhile, the automatic unloading of finished rolls reduces non-productive time, thereby boosting the productivity of the new slitting line," notes Patrick Hofmann, Operations Manager at PEKU Folien.

Modern automation and control systems also ensure reproducible results, reduce setup times, and enable cost-effective manufacturing, even for small and medium-sized batch sizes.

"With the new cutting line, we are laying the foundation for production that is even more resource-efficient. Highly energy-efficient drive technology and optimized production workflows help reduce material waste and ensure the efficient use of energy and raw materials. At the same time, the high-performance downstream cutting process allows us to better utilize the capacities of upstream production stages and coordinate the entire process chain more efficiently.

PEKU Folien continues its growth trajectory

Commissioning the new slitter-rewinder is part of an ongoing investment program through which PEKU is modernizing its manufacturing operations and expanding production capacity. In 2023, the company invested in the construction of a cleanroom and associated technologies for the medical technology sector. With the new Comexi system, PEKU Folien is strengthening its Neumarkt site and laying the groundwork for packaging solutions that are even more efficient, sustainable, and of higher quality.
