Jenton International, an innovative packaging, automation and UV specialist for over 53 years have won the ‘Innovative Processing System’ Award at the Automate UK Awards 2026.

Facing some tough competition the team at JenAct, part of the Jenton Group was delighted to receive the award in recognition for their innovative work alongside Camden BRI in the UV-C decontamination of food powders, which explores inactivation of pathogens with ultraviolet light whilst minimising the impact on the powder’s properties / characteristics.

JenAct has been at the forefront of germicidal UV (GUV) innovation since the 1990s. Specialising is the efficient generation of UV for germicidal and odour removal applications in HVAC, food and pharmaceutical industries.

We are delighted to receive the award for a processing system that was the direct outcome of our recent R&D project, which has been exploring the use of germicidal ultraviolet light in one of the most challenging disinfection applications in the food industry. I would like to thank Campden BRI for their participation in the project, in particular Robbie McGill and Danny Bayliss for their outstanding contribution. The work on disinfection of food powders was partially funded by Innovate UK and I would also like to thank them for their guidance and expertise. We believe that the award will help us to introduce this innovative technology to a wider community within the food industry.

Jaromir Bilek, Director at JenAct.
It was a great privilege to work on this research project alongside our partners at JenAct and are thoroughly pleased to have won this award. We are excited to continue advancing the UV treatment of low-moisture products and building on the outcomes of this work. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Jaromir Bilek and Richard Little for their technical expertise and unwavering support throughout the project and beyond. We would also like to thank Innovate UK for their grant funding, which made this research possible, and for their continued support throughout the project.
