Korozo Group has collaborated with Zertus UK & Ireland to develop innovative stand-up pouches for the launch of Baileys Chocolate Nut Mix, a new product that extends the Baileys brand into the adult snacking market.

The stand-up pouch, designed and manufactured by Korozo, addresses the dual priorities of functionality and sustainability. It is produced using the company’s proprietary KoroRCY film, laminated with a PE layer containing an EVOH barrier to preserve product freshness and integrity. Crucially, this combination ensures the pouch remains fully recyclable—a key consideration in today’s packaging market.

The packaging also includes several consumer-focused features. The pouch is flexo-printed in eight colours and finished with a partial surface matte lacquer, providing an eye-catching, premium aesthetic. Laser scribing enables a clean and easy tear opening, while an integrated zipper allows consumers to reseal the pack, maintaining freshness for multiple uses.

This packaging innovation played a significant role in the success of the Baileys Chocolate Nut Mix, which won the ‘Crisps, Nuts & Bagged Snacks’ category at The Grocer New Product & Packaging Awards. The range, which combines chocolate-coated almonds, caramelised nuts, and salted toffee popcorn with a hint of Baileys flavour, exemplifies how thoughtful packaging can enhance product appeal and consumer convenience.

Irem Altinay, Field Sales Manager, Food Flexibles for the UK and Ireland at Korozo Group, said: For this important product launch, Zertus UK & Ireland required packaging that was highly functional but also striking on shelf. Our expertise in developing sustainable packaging solutions meant we were able to provide a pack that was recyclable and resealable, supporting the brand’s sustainability goals while keeping the product in tip-top condition through the supply chain.
Our advanced flexographic printing technology was used to create the strong visual appeal needed to ensure on-shelf success, with a sophisticated look and feel that mimics the luxurious and indulgent nature of the product.

Korozo’s collaboration with Zertus demonstrates the potential of flexible packaging to balance sustainability with high-performance barrier properties and advanced design features.
