Next-generation flip-top closure introduced for sauce packaging
Sustainability

Amcor has unveiled a new closure targeting applications such as mayonnaise, ketchup and sweet sauces. The 55 mm Flava Flip Top Closure 38/400 is a lightweighted upgrade compared to previous versions.

The new generation of the 38/400 neck finish range is designed for circularity to help brand owners meet and exceed their sustainability goals. Amcor has achieved an absolute weight reduction of 1.9 g bringing the new cap’s weight down to 8.5 g, an 18.7% relative reduction compared to the earlier generation of 55mm Flip Top Closure. The monomaterial cap, available in a variety of orifice sizes and circular valves, is recyclable-ready with PET, HDPE and PP bottles, where the appropriate recycling infrastructure is in place.

The Flava closure is available in a variety of colours, while the closure can also be paired with a range of PET and HDPE bottles from Amcor’s portfolio.

The new Flava Flip Top Closure will help customers reach their carbon reduction targets thanks to its lighter design. However, while weight saving is critical in reducing the carbon impact of the closure, it does not compromise performance. Getting this balance right is crucial for consumers. They can be reassured that the product can be dispensed cleanly and easily.

This is a lightweight design that combines functionality, customer convenience and recycle-readiness, supporting the circular economy while providing improved usability for a wide range of applications.

In addition, we are a trusted supplier ready to tailor each solution to the precise needs of our customers. Historically, we have a long and proud history of supplying this type of closure and we are excited to bring the next generation to market. Our Flava closure will benefit a wide range of brands requiring a more sustainable solution, and our collaborative approach enables on-time turnaround and fast delivery.

Peter Briggs, UK sales director, food and beverage, at Amcor.

Bottles that the Flava can be paired with include the Eurosqueeze range in HDPE, the 520ml Mercury PET and the 400ml Force Oval PET.
