J&J Green Paper, a packaging solutions provider, has partnered with independent McDonald's franchisee Arcos Dorados to launch a sustainable packaging initiative in Argentina.

Through this collaboration, Arcos Dorados is updating McDonald's primary bags and hamburger wrappers using J&J Green Paper’s JANUS technology.

JANUS technology features an all-natural coating for food packaging, providing a barrier against grease, water, and oxygen. This technology can be applied to various paper-based packaging items, such as cups, wrap paper, and boxes.

The compound is 100% biodegradable, backyard compostable, repulpable, and recyclable, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum-derived polyethylene coatings.

By adopting JANUS, Arcos Dorados will replace existing coating standards, presenting a more sustainable option to single-use plastics.

Additionally, this initiative addresses environmental and health concerns related to PFAS chemicals.
