Cadbury introduces 65% recycled plastic packaging for Mini Eggs bags
Sustainability
Mondelēz International has introduced packaging changes across parts of its Cadbury Easter range, including the use of recycled plastic in Mini Eggs bags for the 2026 season.
The company confirmed that the 31.9g, 74g and 256g bags of Cadbury Mini Eggs will now be packaged using material containing 65% certified recycled plastic. The recycled content is allocated through a mass balance approach.

Additional updates have also been made to other products within the Easter portfolio. Small and large Easter tablets will be packaged in plastic containing 80% certified recycled content, also allocated via mass balance, while the ribbon handle previously used on the Cadbury Special Gesture Easter Egg range has been replaced with a recyclable cardboard handle.
According to Mondelēz International, the changes form part of its ongoing efforts to reduce the environmental impact of seasonal packaging. In previous years the company introduced a paper-based outer pack for the Cadbury Easter Favourites Pouch and removed around 6.4 million plastic windows from Easter egg packaging.
The latest packaging developments have been delivered in partnership with Amcor, which supplied recycled content through its AmFiniti recycled material platform. The technology converts post-consumer plastic waste into new packaging materials using advanced recycling processes.
Our Cadbury Mini Eggs range is an iconic Easter treat, loved by people across the UK & Ireland, and this is an exciting moment to increase our use of recycled plastic packaging across the Easter range. Continuing our partnership with Amcor to grow our impact, our Cadbury Mini Eggs this Easter are another fantastic milestone for Mondelēz UK&I as we work towards the delivery of Mondelēz’s global sustainability goals, namely, reducing our use of virgin plastic.
Joanna Dias, UK&I Sustainability Lead at Mondelēz International.
Mondelēz stated that approximately 134 tonnes of post-consumer recycled plastic will be used across parts of the Cadbury Easter range this year. The material is expected to support packaging production equivalent to around 16 million seasonal chocolate tablets and approximately 70 million bags of Mini Eggs annually.
For Easter 2026, the updated Mini Eggs packs will also feature a QR code on the back of the packaging. The code directs consumers to further information about the recycled content used in the packaging and the company’s wider approach to packaging sustainability.
