Spectra supports Fuss-Free Shaving with custom postal packs

Spectra Packaging has teamed up with Fuss Free Shaving (FFS) to develop a bespoke solution for its shave care range.

The collaboration centres on two custom-designed slimline bottles: a 150ml and a 50ml pack, both tailored to meet FFS’s unique logistical needs. One critical design requirement was a maximum pack thickness of 22mm, ensuring that the bottles could be sent as a large letter rather than a small parcel, reducing delivery costs and streamlining distribution.

The bottles are manufactured with 35% recycled content made from a Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP) source, reinforcing the brand’s focus on responsible sourcing and material reuse. While the current packs are labelled, the upcoming production run will switch to direct silk screen printing, which will provide a cleaner, more premium finish and improve recyclability by eliminating label waste.

In a move that aligns with Spectra and FFS’s sustainability values, production of the new packs has shifted from China to the UK, significantly reducing transportation emissions and strengthening local supply chains.

Alex Beveridge, Business Development Manager at Spectra Packaging, commented: Working with FFS has been a fantastic project, not only because of the technical challenge of creating a durable yet ultra-slim custom bottle, but also because of the brand’s genuine commitment to improving their environmental footprint. Bringing manufacturing back to the UK and incorporating recycled materials shows how practical, stylish packaging can also be environmentally-friendly.”

Des McManus, Co-Founder – Director of Operations at Fuss Free Shaving said: We reached out to Spectra as we had challenges dealing with other suppliers not understanding our needs and objectives resulting in poor final execution. Our original bottle was designed to be letter box friendly but the product we made was too ridged so customers faced issue on dispensing the creams and contents. We were also not happy with the design and print quality. Sitting down with Spectra allowed us to really explore all options available to us whilst clearly understanding the objective of retaining a letter box friendly bottle in both large and travel size but making it more flexible, refillable and easier to print directly on the bottle. The final results were better than we expected with the real test on customer feedback and suffice to say it been nothing but positive. Lead times and delivery were all as agreed and expected and general communications with us and suppliers has been exceptional.

At Spectra Packaging, we’re proud to support forward-thinking brands like FFS with innovative custom packaging that delivers on both performance and purpose.
