Pregis, a renowned protective packaging manufacturer, has announced the availability of its AirSpeed Ascent high-performance air cushioning system in the European Union.

The patented, high-pressure air system produces square-pattern hybrid cushioning (HC), providing superior product protection by absorbing more shock with its larger surface area.

The AirSpeed HC Renew film, which contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled content, is designed in accordance with the Circular Economy Flexible Packaging (CEFLEX) guidelines that aim to make flexible packaging circular in Europe by 2025.

With a compact design, the on-demand system saves valuable floor space and can operate at speeds up to 30 meters per minute. The Ascent also features an ergonomic design that allows for easy, one-person roll changeover and no exposed parts to protect packers.

Furthermore, the Ascent is equipped with "smart logic" that recognises and calibrates the optimal system settings when the film is loaded into the machine, making the operation much more efficient and eliminating human errors. The system also creates strong and consistent seals, giving HC superior air retention over competing solutions.

"As e-commerce retail and direct-to-consumer fulfilment have become mainstream, it's more important for companies to pay attention to their damage rates, which can have a catastrophic impact on profits and the environment," said Manon Canisius, product manager air cushioning at Pregis. "Pregis' AirSpeed Ascent meets volume demands while HC provides premium protection for high-value, breakable items, minimising damage costs and enhancing customer experience."

Ideal for heavier products in industries such as automotive, industrial parts, home accessories, consumer electronics, and smaller equipment, the AirSpeed Ascent provides excellent protection and reliability for packaging needs.
