The 5th Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Packaging Congress (PHARMAP) is dedicated to addressing key challenges in production, supply chains and packaging as well as presenting new digital tools that are going to shape the industry. More than 300 professionals meet at the Congress in Berlin, Germany on 14-15 April 2025.

Machine learning has been an ongoing trend for many years in pharmaceutics. Around 55% of the companies report using digital technologies and actively implementing AI, VR and robotics to reduce the operational costs and improve efficiency. The Congress is highlighting these advancements with the session dedicated to digital tools where representatives of top-level companies explore smart manufacturing.

One of such speakers is Novo Nordisk, the leading pharmaceutical company recognized for its innovative use of digital technologies. At PHARMAP 2025 Airton Miranda, Innovation and Development Manufacturing Manager, delivers a presentation titled "Digital Thread: Leveraging Digital Solutions Connecting Product, Process, and Production", focusing on integrating digital solutions across the manufacturing lifecycle.

Another speaker at the Congress is Philip Schneider, Technology Lead at F. Hoffman-La Roche. The company which had 15 patents in digitalisation during Q1 2024 and in recent years implemented process analytical technology (PAT), AI control systems and other tools to achieve high process consistency, advance time-to-market for new medicines and improve the quality of drugs. On the second day of PHARMAP 2025 Philip Schneider is going to talk about enhancing semi-automated equipment by robotics.

A global leader, Bayer, is utilising and researching digital technologies as well, especially focusing on artificial intelligence. The company has been developing and training their AI models using synthetic data which helps in accelerating the drug creation and discovery as well as improving diagnostic capabilities. At the Congress, Radovan Simic, Data and Digital Transformation Lead, is going to discuss AI driven operations and how it benefits pharmaceutics.

At PHARMAP 2025 the audience has the opportunity to discover more about digital technologies and get acquainted with them at the focus exhibition along with representatives from Bayer, Almirall, Hoffmann-La Roche, Novo Nordisk, Novartis and others.
