Reusables.com raises $2.6 million to expand smart reusable packaging technology
Business

Reusables.com has announced the successful closure of a $2.6 million USD (£2.1 million) seed funding round, which was oversubscribed. The round was co-led by StandUp Ventures and Amplify Capital, with additional support from Sandpiper Ventures and Emend Vision Fund. The investment will be used to expand the company's hardware-enabled SaaS solutions, enhancing its role within the growing circular economy sector.

Founded by Vancouver-based entrepreneurs Jason Hawkins and Anastasia Kiku, Reusables.com has shifted its focus from restaurant services to supplying institutional food service operators, such as universities and hospitals. The company reports it is on course to triple its revenue this year, reaching multi-million-dollar figures.

Reusables.com offers a technology-driven reuse system featuring "Tap to Reuse" software and Smart Return Bins, designed to make it easier for food service operators to track and manage reusable food containers. Unlike traditional reuse models, the system eliminates the need for deposits, uses existing on-site cleaning facilities to reduce transport emissions, and aims to deliver both cost savings and environmental benefits.

According to Reusables.com, their solution addresses common challenges faced by reuse initiatives, such as managing cleaning, inventory, and logistics, positioning the company as a scalable option for large institutions seeking to reduce disposable packaging waste.

Jason Hawkins, CEO at Reusables.com, said: Our approach is simple: make reuse more cost-effective and convenient than waste. We're thrilled to be backed by the best tech and climate investors as we scale real impact, not just optics. Greenwashing won't solve the waste crisis—technology and execution will.

The funding is expected to accelerate the company’s growth and further its mission of enabling efficient, tech-enabled reuse across institutional food services.
