Industry insights wanted: Is connected packaging ready for Sunrise 2027?
Business
Connected packaging specialist Appetite Creative is inviting professionals across the advertising, retail and packaging industries to share their views on the future of connected packaging through a short industry survey.
Now in its sixth year, the 2027 Connected Packaging Survey takes just two minutes to complete and gives participants a genuine opportunity to shape the future of the packaging industry. All responses are anonymous, yet immensely influential.

Sponsored by Koenig & Bauer AuraVeo, new for this edition is a dedicated section on GS1 Sunrise 2027 readiness, as the barcode-to-QR migration lands.
Participants stand a chance to win a €250 Amazon voucher or one of two copies of ‘Connected Packaging: The Game-Changing Marketing Tool’ by Jenny Stanley. Everyone who takes part will receive early access to the results.
The barcode-to-QR switch the industry has talked about for years is finally here, and checkouts should read QR codes by the end of 2027. Soon, the code that rings up a product will connect the brand to its buyer. It’s packaging’s biggest opportunity in decades, and we want to capture where the industry stands as it happens.
Jenny Stanley, Managing Director at Appetite Creative.
Last year’s survey found that 92.3% of respondents said connected packaging would become increasingly important to the industry, up from 88.8% in 2025. While 81.2% of companies are already using connected packaging, up from 72.6% in 2025, 60.7% of respondents rated it important for enabling compliance, such as GS1 and digital product passports.
Appetite Creative will unveil the results of its sixth annual Connected Packaging Survey in a free webinar on Tuesday 23 February 2027, from 15:00 to 16:00 (CET). The team will be joined by Sandra Wagner at Koenig & Bauer AuraVeo, Camilla Young at GS1 UK and Thomas Stone at Greencore.
