Boston Beer launches glow in the dark packaging for ready to drink alcoholic beverages

The Boston Beer Company has introduced a new ready-to-drink (RTD) product range featuring distinctive glow-in-the-dark packaging.

The LYTT Electric Coolers range is presented in single-serve containers designed in a lightbulb shape. The packaging is described as resealable and widely recyclable, with materials aligned to the criteria of the How2Recycle programme used in the United States and Canada.

The containers are intended to combine functionality with visual differentiation, incorporating glow-in-the-dark properties alongside a reusable cap to allow for resealing after opening. The format is designed for single-serve consumption and is being positioned within the growing RTD beverage segment.

Lytt stands for standing out in the crowd. The single-serve convenience factor packs a punch on flavor and ABV while clearly signaling that our drinker is ready to light up the occasion. We think we’ve got lightning in a bottle with this one and are excited to bring Lytt to even more markets later this year.

Tim Kerrigan, associate director of innovation at Boston Beer.

Consumers are advised to empty the container and replace the cap before placing it in recycling streams, in line with guidance provided through the How2Recycle labelling system.

As the first Boston Beer venture into plastic containers, identifying widely recyclable materials for Lytt’s single-serve container and resealable closure was paramount to our path forward. Credibility from How2Recycle is a bright light in Boston Beer’s sustainability journey.

Jill Westra, senior manager of sustainability at Boston Beer.

The product range includes six cocktail-inspired flavours, each with an alcohol content of 15% ABV. The beverages are currently being rolled out in selected markets, with wider distribution expected later in 2026.
