Cepi

Cepi, the European association that represents the paper industry, operates as a non-profit organization under the leadership of Director General Jori Ringman and a team of 21 employees based in Brussels. The association is structured with four standing committees, namely Environment and Safety, Climate Change and Energy, Forest and Recycling, and various ad-hoc issue groups. The Association Directors' Group (ADG) is the principal advisory group to the Director General and comprises Director Generals of National Associations.

Mission and vision

  • To secure pulp and paper industries competitiveness towards EU policy makers
  • To represent the paper industry with EU institutions and Brussels based stakeholders
  • To improve the image and visibility of the paper industry and other related industries
  • To be the example of how competitiveness and sustainability can go hand in hand

Management

The management of Cepi is overseen by a 33-person Board consisting of representatives from National Associations and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), chaired by Ilkka Hämälä, the CEO of Metsä Group. The Board approves Cepi's policies, strategies, objectives, business plans, and budgets, as proposed by the Steering Committee, which is made up of three members from the ADG and three Board members. The Steering Committee acts as a formal link between the committees and the Board, driving policy areas. The Director General ensures that Cepi's actions comply with the Board's decisions and maintain consistency of policy among the committees.
