Steel for Packaging Europe (formerly APEAL)

Steel for Packaging Europe, formerly known as APEAL, is the association representing the five major European producers of packaging steel: Acciaierie d’Italia, ArcelorMittal, Tata Steel, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, and U.S. Steel Košice.

Founded in 1986, Steel for Packaging Europe is dedicated to collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to promote steel as a sustainable and resource-efficient packaging solution. The association serves as a dynamic hub, highlighting the circularity, design flexibility, and versatility of steel packaging. It showcases recent industry innovations, such as the Chromium-free Passivation Alternative, and provides insights into policy and environmental issues.

The platform also emphasizes the collective EU steel industry’s ambitious vision to achieve a carbon-neutral future by 2050.
