OPRL

Established in 2009, On-Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) is a not-for-profit organisation promoting the recycling of packaging. OPRL aims to transform packaging resource efficiency through great packaging design and clear on-pack messaging.

An environmental labelling and certification scheme, OPRL provides consumers with reliable and consistent information about what is and isn't collected for recycling.

OPRL offers tools and expertise for businesses to access easy to understand, consistent and UK-wide recognised recycling messages to appear on retail and brand packaging. By helping businesses OPRL help customers recycle or reuse packaging more often and more efficiently.

OPRL values

Independent – OPRL take views independently of all organisations, government and customers from all material sectors. A stand alone organisation with multiple stakeholders as partners.

Pioneering – OPRL look to find innovative ways to increase the ability of packaging created to be re-used in the UK as well as minimise the quantity of resources used in packaging.

Expert – OPRL ensures it stays up to date with issues across all material sectors. OPRL board and staff have the expertise to continually achieve its goals.

Ethical – OPRL looks to lead the way on recycling. OPRL observes carbon strategies and considers its social, environmental and financial impacts. It also observe this for its suppliers, stakeholders and customers.

OPRL members

OPRL members are a mix of packaging suppliers and manufactures, retailers, brands, start-ups, sole traders, waste management companies and more. OPRL members come from a variety of markets including but not limited to, food and drink, health and beauty, toys and games and DIY.
