Snack Connection enhances efficiency with the case packer from Syntegon
Supplier News

Snack Connection, a leading Netherlands-based manufacturer of nuts, kernels, and seeds, has partnered with Syntegon to significantly boost its production efficiency. As global demand for snacks, particularly nuts, continues to rise, Snack Connection faced the challenge of meeting diverse regional packaging preferences while maintaining cost-effective production. To address this, they have combined the Elematic 2001 wrap-around (WA) case packer with their existing SVE 2520 DZ vertical bagger. The collaboration has allowed Snack Connection to streamline its operations and handle various packaging formats with ease, ensuring flexibility while improving overall production speed.

Increased speed and efficiency with automation

The Elematic 2001 WA has delivered impressive results, increasing packaging speeds up to 40 cases per minute, a significant increase compared to Snack Connection’s previous solution. This automation has not only sped up the case-packing process but also optimized warehouse management by reducing the required case formats, leading to lower storage costs. Additionally, the machine’s design helps minimize material usage, contributing to more sustainable production practices.

Easy and fast plug-and-play changeover

A standout feature of the Elematic 2001 WA is its plug-and-play changeover concept, which allows operators to switch between packaging formats without the need for tools. This feature significantly enhances operational flexibility, as it makes the process of changing between different packaging styles faster and easier.

Kees Pieter van Vloten, Operations Director, Snack Connection commented: As a private label manufacturer, we need to handle a variety of products in different formats.

Step-by-step instructions displayed on the HMI guide through each process step, and integrated sensors ensure that adjustments are made accurately. The ease of changeovers has also helped Snack Connection reduce the need for skilled labor.

Ensuring long-term growth through continuous investment in automation

Building on the success of the Elematic 2001 WA, Snack Connection is already looking ahead to future upgrades. The company is exploring the potential of the Elematic 3001 WA, a larger case packer designed to accommodate even more packaging styles and further enhance their production capacity. As market demands continue to shift, the Elematic 3001 WA will offer Snack Connection the ability to adapt to new packaging requirements, ensuring that they remain competitive and agile in the fast-paced snack industry.

By combining advanced technology with a customer-centric approach, Syntegon has helped Snack Connection overcome its immediate challenges and set the stage for a successful and sustainable future.
